Channel — Visitor Chat
The visitor chat is a widget embedded on your public page (marketplace). It allows unauthenticated visitors to ask real-time questions about your establishment without creating an account.
How it works
- A visitor lands on your public Aiterava page.
- They click the chat widget (bubble icon, bottom right).
- They ask a question (availability, services, rates, location...).
- The AI responds using your establishment's public data.
- The conversation history is kept per session (20 messages max, 1 hour by default).
Technically: each visitor session is identified by an anonymous session_id. No account is created, no personal data is stored.
Enable visitor chat
Visitor chat is enabled by default as soon as Aiterava Intelligence is configured. To check or modify the state:
- Log in as a platform administrator.
- Go to Admin → AI → Platform configuration.
- Verify that Visitor chat enabled is checked.
Configurable settings
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Visitor chat enabled | Yes | Enables/disables the widget on all public pages |
| Messages per session limit | 20 | Max number of messages per visitor session |
| Session TTL | 1 hour | Session lifetime before reset |
These settings are managed by the platform administrator (not by the tenant).
What the assistant can answer
The visitor assistant has read-only access to your establishment's public data:
- Unit and accommodation descriptions
- Real-time availability
- Rates and conditions
- General information (location, services, hours) from the marketplace profile
It cannot:
- Make a booking (it invites the visitor to use the booking form)
- Access other customers' data
- Answer out-of-scope questions — it says so clearly and suggests contacting you directly
Troubleshooting
Widget doesn't appear
- Check that visitor chat is enabled in the platform config.
- Check that Aiterava Intelligence is enabled for your tenant (Settings → AI Intelligence).
- Check that your tenant has an AI provider configured (platform key or BYOK).
Assistant responds "an error occurred"
- Check the API logs (
docker logs aiterava_onprem_apion on-premise). - Check that the provider API key is valid and has available credits.
Visitor hits the message limit
- The assistant informs them and invites them to contact you directly.
- The administrator can increase the limit in the platform config.
